EXCELLENT COLLABORATION BETWEEN PANSAR HEAVY EQUIPMENT AND SABAH BUILDERS ASSOCIATION (SBA)

26 April 2025

Excellent collaboration between Pansar Heavy Equipment and Sabah Builders Association (SBA) resulted in a successful JCB Live Demo event and raised awareness of JCB Hydrogen innovation for a sustainable future.

Pansar Heavy Equipment in collaboration with the Sabah Builders Association (SBA), successfully hosted the JCB Live Demo event and introduced JCB Hydrogen Innovation for sustainable future awareness at Micheel Construction Workshop, Kota Kinabalu. The event attracted the participation of more than 100 builders, contractors, engineers, and industry professionals, offering them the opportunity to witness JCB’s latest machinery in action and learn more about the future of sustainable construction technologies.

The program began at 9.00 a.m. with guest registration. After registration, breakfast and a singing performance followed, before the official welcome and opening remarks. Mr. David Tai, Pansar Company Chief Operating Officer, delivered a speech highlighting Sabah’s robust infrastructure development and the growing opportunities it presents to the construction sector. This was followed by an address from Mr. Johnny Wong, the President of Sabah Builders Association (SBA), and a sales announcement by Ms. Rosalind Law, Sabah Regional Manager of Pansar Heavy Equipment.

After that, the JCB Hydrogen Technology Awareness Segment was presented by Mr. Isham Samad, JCB Regional Product Manager, who introduced the JCB brand’s latest innovation in zero-emission engine technology. He explained that while the hydrogen engine is not yet available in Malaysia, it has already been implemented in Europe. The segment aimed to raise awareness and encourage conversations within the local industry about sustainable alternatives in construction, aligning with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions.

A presentation of mementos was made to association representatives from Sabah Builders Association (SBA), Sabah Quarry Owners Association (SQOA), Persatuan Kontraktor Bumiputra Sabah (PKBM), and Persatuan Keturunan Vun Sabah (PKV), followed by a group photo session and an energetic JCB Dancing Diggers performance. In this special performance, each machine was skilfully operated by a dedicated mechanic, showcasing precise coordination and control in a synchronised display of movement and power.

Guests were then invited to observe live machine demonstrations featuring a wide range of JCB equipment, including the JCB AJ48D Articulated Boom, 155HD Skid Steer Loader, 50Z Mini Excavator, 116D Single Drum Compactor, 540-170 Telehandler, JS215LC Excavator, and the 3CX Plus Pro Max Backhoe Loader equipped with a 6-in-1 bucket. Each demonstration highlighted the machines’ superior engineering and versatility in various construction applications.

The event continued with a performance comparison between the JCB 3CX and another brand of heavy equipment, providing attendees with insights into performance differentials. Lunch and networking followed, featuring a spread of roasted lamb and catered fare. During
this session, interested guests had the opportunity to engage directly with Pansar’s sales personnel as well as product specialists from JCB, who provided detailed information about JCB machines, answered technical inquiries, and learned more about the specific needs and backgrounds of potential customers.

These one-on-one interactions not only helped strengthen relationships but also facilitated meaningful business discussions, supported by exclusive event promotions that encouraged immediate interest and potential sales engagements. In the afternoon, guests participated in
machine test drives at designated zones, allowing them to experience the handling, performance, and capabilities of the equipment first hand. The programme concluded at 3.30 p.m.

Throughout the day, attendees benefited from informative segments, machine live demonstrations, exclusive event promotions, and meaningful networking opportunities. The strong turnout and enthusiastic engagement reflected the effectiveness of the collaboration between Pansar Heavy Equipment and the Sabah Builders Association (SBA) in showcasing innovative and high-performance machinery to the local market. While JCB’s hydrogen powered technology is not yet available in Malaysia, the awareness segment served as a platform to introduce future possibilities and encourage sustainable thinking in the industry.

In conclusion, Pansar Heavy Equipment supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by encouraging sustainability efforts across its business activities. Through the JCB Live Demo event, Pansar Heavy Equipment introduced future-forward innovations such as JCB’s hydrogen-powered machinery, which has already been implemented in Europe. While these technologies are not yet available in Malaysia, the awareness initiative aligns with SDG 13 (Climate Action) by fostering industry conversations on cleaner alternatives. It also supports SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by promoting innovation in machinery across sectors including construction, logistics, and infrastructure development. Pansar Heavy Equipment continues to drive sustainability within the industry, helping shape a greener and more responsible future.
